Dev Log #1: Rebuilding the Foundation

Este artigo descreve trabalho em andamento, não mudanças já lançadas no cliente público.

This is the first entry in our development log. We are going back through our history and posting it in batches, from the oldest work to the newest, so you can see how the game got to where it is today. These posts are written for players, not for other developers, so we are keeping the technical side out of it and focusing on what actually changed for you.

A new foundation

The very first milestone was rebuilding how the game draws everything on screen, replacing an old and fragile system with a modern one that gives us far more room to fix and improve visuals going forward. Alongside that, we did early work so the world can support much larger maps, tightened up protections around trading and storage so items cannot be duplicated or lost, fixed a character animation glitch, and closed a bug that could cause two players to see different outcomes in the same fight.

Bringing the world back to life

With the new foundation in place, we spent the following weeks bringing the visuals up to where they should be. Reflections now show up correctly on armor and weapons, heat shimmer returned around fire, the Saturation option in the graphics settings actually works now, lighting quality settings behave the way they are supposed to, and shadows in tight corners and creases no longer turn pitch black. Bright effects like shields and waterfalls also stopped blowing out into an overexposed white mess.

New systems and everyday fixes

We introduced the elemental enchant system for weapons and armor, added a way to see your active enchant on the character window, and made sure it survives equipping and unequipping gear correctly instead of resetting. On the social side, whispering, the right click interaction menu, the Beginners and Looking For Party channels, and channel tab cycling in chat all got fixed. Crafting now hides recipes you have not unlocked yet instead of showing them uselessly, garbled NPC dialogue text was corrected, and talent combos chain properly again, including the ones granted by buffs.

Faster and more stable

The last stretch of this period was about speed and stability. We fixed a couple of bugs that could crash the game outright, made both text and shadow rendering noticeably faster, and closed an issue in the buff icon window that wasted memory over time. None of this changes what you see directly, but it means fewer crashes and a smoother frame rate.
