Dev Log #2: Mounts, Markets, and a New Launcher

Este artículo describe trabajo en curso, no cambios ya publicados en el cliente actual.

Riding and looking the part

Mounts got a proper pass: each mount now uses its own rider pose instead of a generic one, weapons stay sheathed while riding, dismounting no longer crashes the game, and dismounting in water and mount speed buffs behave correctly. Player collision and name plates now line up properly while mounted. We also added a real 3D preview window for items, fixed a crash that could happen around the forty ninth tattoo, corrected tattoo dye colors and the character creator preview, and finished wiring up the Beauty Parlor so opening it, saving changes, and leaving all work as expected.

Trading and the cash shop

The trade market no longer shows empty rows filled with garbage items, properly clears its list when closed, and lets you collect completed listings. We also closed a cash shop exploit that let players get crystals for free, along with a crash and a stuck loading state, and made sure the shop's menus open and close correctly no matter what language you play in. Sale notification mail now shows the right item names in every language too.

Controls, movement, and combat feel

We rewrote how the game reads keyboard input from the ground up. The most visible result is that keys no longer get stuck as held down after the game has been running for a long time, a bug that used to cause characters to keep moving or acting on their own. Movement speed bonuses and penalties now apply correctly instead of stacking incorrectly, jump distance is accurate again, and the game sends your position more often while jumping so other players see you land in the right place. On top of that, we fixed a syncing issue that could cause faction membership to disagree between players, and cleared up a case where certain skill effects would show up late or not appear at all, along with making sure ground decals like scorch marks last the right amount of time and appear where they should.

A new launcher takes shape

Behind the scenes, we started building a brand new installer and launcher for the game, along with the tooling we use to package and publish updates. This will not be visible to you yet, but it is the first step toward a faster, more reliable way to install and update the game.
