We’ve implemented a revamped scoring system for Brunes' Glory to create a more strategic and rewarding experience. Here's an overview of the changes:

🎯 Motivation for the Change

The previous scoring system was based on fixed point ranges, which didn't adequately reflect the difficulty of defeating stronger opponents or fairly penalize losses to weaker ones. The new system aims to address these issues by introducing proportional scaling.

🔄 What’s New?
  • Points gained or lost now scale with the difference in scores between players.
  • Rewards for victories and penalties for losses are adjusted based on the opponent's relative strength.
📊 How It Works
Gains
  • Victories against stronger opponents: Up to 20 points for defeating significantly stronger players.
  • Victories against weaker opponents: As low as 3 points for defeating significantly weaker players.
Losses
  • Losses to stronger opponents: Minimal penalty, as low as 1 point.
  • Losses to weaker opponents: Maximum penalty of 30 points.

  • Encourages players to challenge stronger opponents for greater rewards.
  • Proportional scaling ensures fairness, even with large score differences.
  • Reaching the top of the leaderboard becomes a strategic and competitive challenge.

  • Win against an opponent with 500 points more: Gain 20 points.
  • Win against an opponent with 500 points less: Gain 3 points.
  • Lose to an opponent with 500 points more: Lose 1 point.
  • Lose to an opponent with 500 points less: Lose 30 points.
